We offer a variaty of activities also during the summer. Come and check our versatile programs from hiking to white water rafting and  fishing trips etc.

Please remember to register for the excursions (at the latest) a day before the departure.
Our office is open Mon-Fri 10.00-15.00 during the summer season.

 

CANOEING TO THE ESTUARY OF RIVER OUNASJOKI

Join us on a canoe trip to a scenic estuary of River Ounasjoki. With a guidance of our professional guides you will get familiar with the unique Natura2000 area and its nature. On our trip we might see some of the birds and animals which live on the area. We stop on the river shore for a cup of coffee and little snack; you can hear the sounds of the current and enjoy the peace of the nature. Children under 12 years only with parents.

GO GREEN PLANT A TREE!

Did you know that Finland is the most extensively forested country in Europe and forests cover 86 percent of its land area? Forests play a huge role both in the local history and also in the present culture. It is a place where we locals go to rest, find peace, look for food and do many activities. Today we become familiar with the culture but also we learn to read the forest and become comfortable spending time in there. With our specialiased guide we take a transfer to the middle of nowhere to commercial forests where we wonder around the area seeing many different kind and ages of forests. We hear how the forests were taken care in the old days and how it differs from the modern ways. Also we hear about the flora and fauna and many more interesting facts and stories! In the forest we also amke a fire and have a proper Lappish coffee cooked in the fire. The highlight is when we all plant our own trees and marked when they were planted and who planted them. After 20 years we can come back and see how majestic tree it has become!

VISIT TO HUSKY AND REINDEER FARMS

Visit the cutest creatures of Lapland and Santa’s trusted helpers and hear amazing stories about both huskies and reindeer! We start the day by visiting a very old reindeer farm and become acquainted with this ancient Lappish livelihood. We hear how is the life in the farm, become familiar with the reindeer and their herders, feed reindeer and take lots of pictures. This visit is a truly cultural visit! Later we proceed to a husky farm where loud yapping is welcoming us. The athmosphere at this farm is totally different than in the previous one and the farm is full of energy! We hear about the life in the farm, about these brave dogs and also long distance husky race. The highlight of the tour is a special summer sleigh ride with dogs!

SATURDAY SAUNA

Finnish sauna is an internationally known concept and a substantial part of Finnish culture. Come and experience the relaxing and authentic sauna evening with Safartica! The remote venue itself is an experience and locates in the middle of a forest with no neighbors in the vicinity. There is no electricity nor the running water in the venue, so we heat the sauna with wood and carry the washing water from the lake. In the meanwhile the sauna heats up we dip our feet in the water and relax on the pier, row the boat and fish in the wilderness lake or just sit by the open fire in total silence under the midnight sun. The sauna experience is followed by the traditional sauna snacks; fried sausages and beverages - and if you catch a fish we can prepare in the fire! Safartica provides towels and lots of talk about sauna culture and local way of life are served.

MIDNIGHT SUN PICNIC

Enjoy the midnight sun light in a peaceful forest around the Rovaniemi Centre. Our guide picks you up from your hotel and gives you a ride near to the highest hills of Rovaniemi. We do a short hike about 2km, up to the hill. Up on the top you will see a beautiful scene of Rovaniemi area. Our guide prepares some snack by an open fire and we will toast for the midnight sun. With a rested mind we head back to the city.

RIVER RAFTING

Challenge yourself and become familiar with the river rafting in the best parts of ancient lumber jack’s rapids! With our professional guides you don’t need former experience and you have a change to safely get into basics of the river rafting. Well equipped to this adventure at our safari house we take a short transfer to the Euro Cup qualified rapids. After the instructions we push the raft to the waters and paddle straight through the waves and get an overview of the rapid. With the runs we learn some tricks used in this fun and adventurous sport, e.g. stopping the boat in the eddies, crossing the stream and even to try surfing with the raft! Lots of facts and funny stories are heard while having a cup of strong Finnish coffee and bisquits around the open fire.
