A Safartica week is full of wintry activity. How would it feel to discover the world of Arctic wildlife, or would you fancy the unforgettable feeling of speeding across the snow pulled by a team of huskies, reindeer or on snowmobiles - perhaps even as early as tomorrow? The choice is yours.

Please remember to register for the excursions by the day before departure.

REINDEER SAFARI TO SANTA’S VILLAGE

How about a visit to the Santa Claus Village in a reindeer drawn sleigh? Our safari starts with a car transfer to a reindeer farm where your very own reindeer sleigh awaits. After a tour of the farm we settle into the sleighs and head towards the nearby Santa Claus Village. Once there, you will have a chance to meet Santa Claus himself and visit the shops and Santa’s Official Post Office. We then say our goodbyes to Santa and a car brings you back to the city.

SNOWMOBILE SAFARI UNDER THE AURORAS

Join us to experience the magic of the northern nature in the evening twilight. After receiving a short lesson on how to drive a snowmobile we leave the city lights behind and head to the tranquil, nocturnal forests. We drive through the beautiful, winter landscapes before stopping for a break. A delicious evening snack is prepared by an open fire and you will have a chance to observe the vast skies above you. With luck, you will see the amazing Northern Lights appear and dance in the sky. This is a night to remember for those who wish to combine snowmobiling and the search for the Aurora Borealis.

SNOWMOBILING ALONG THE HUSKY TRAILS

Do you wish to combine snowmobiling with a visit to a local husky farm? Our safari begins with a snowmobile ride through the picturesque Lappish nature before arriving to a local Husky Farm. There you will get a guided tour of the farm and enjoy the thrill of a brisk husky sleigh ride. Following the ride, you can relax, spend some time with the lovely dogs and take pictures. Coffee and biscuits are served in a tepee and the Husky Mushers have many interesting tales to tell you about the huskies and the life at the Husky Farm. And the end of the visit we ride our snowmobiles back to the city.

THRILL OF SPEED - TWO HOUR HUSKY SAFARI

Today we learn how to handle our very own team of huskies. The friendly barks of the huskies welcome you to the farm and once you depart from the farm on the sledges the dogs quiet down and get to work. They love to run! For you it is time to enjoy the surrounding nature and the sledge ride in silence. During the ride we stop for a break in the wilds and have some time to take photos, pet the dogs and hear amazing stories of the lovely huskies. We drive two persons/team, and there is a possibility to change the driver along the way. After the safari it’s time for hugs and goodbyes to our honest and brave husky teams before the car transfer to the city.

SNOWMOBILING IN PURSUIT OF REINDEER

Are ready for an adventure? After some driving instructions, we head by snowmobiles to a local Reindeer Farm, where you are greeted by a reindeer herder and where many activities await. You will get to enjoy a short reindeer sleigh ride and receive your very own international reindeer driver’s license. We relax around an open fire in a traditional Lappish tepee and take part in a special Ceremony of Crossing the Arctic Circle. Plenty of information about the reindeer and the way of life in the North is provided during the day. At the end of the safari we return to the city by snowmobiles and you will receive a Certificate of Crossing the Arctic Circle as a gift.

ARCTIC DELIGHT – SANTA AND HIS REINDEER

Are you ready to discover the secrets of Santa Claus and his trusted helpers? We start the day by taking a car to the Santa Claus Village at the Arctic Circle. There you will meet Santa Claus himself and have time to visit Santa’s Official Post Office and some of the village shops before enjoying a buffet lunch in one of the restaurant of Santa’s Village. After lunch, we grab our helmets and head for the snowmobiles. After a short lesson in snowmobiling, we make our way to a local reindeer farm, where you will meet Santa’s trusted helpers – the reindeer and take a short reindeer sleigh ride. Taking part in a special Ceremony of Crossing the Arctic Circle highlights the day. We return back to the city by snowmobiles with many new experiences and stories to tell. A Certificate of Crossing the Arctic Circle is given to you as a gift at the end of the safari.

ICE FISHING SAFARI

Would you like to try your luck in ice-fishing? After a lesson in snowmobiling, our guide leads you by snowmobiles along the frozen rivers to a special winter fishing spot in the middle of the wilderness. Our guide will teach you how to drill a hole in the ice and prepare the ice-fishing rod and baits. Then it’s time to test your skills. In the meantime the guide prepares a delicious outdoor lunch which you’ll enjoy surrounded by the beautiful winter nature. Afterwards you return back to the city by snowmobiles – hopefully with your catch of the day.

SNOWMOBILE ADVENTURE

During our snowmobile adventure, you will have a fantastic opportunity to experience the unique countryside of the North and learn how to master the art of driving a snowmobile. After receiving driving instructions, we drive along versatile routes and terrains in order to give you the best outdoor experience of the Arctic winter. During the safari we stop for a break to enjoy hot drinks and the silence of the wilderness – a great time to take some photographs. Whether you’re a beginner or have previous experience – there’s always time to take a quick spin on the snowmobile!

SNOWMOBILE SAFARI INTO THE WILDERNESS

Have you ever wondered how the locals make the most of the snowy winter days? A popular winter activity among the locals is snowmobiling, which combined with some ice-fishing/snowshoeing and outdoor lunch creates a perfectly spent day in the Lappish wilderness. After snowmobiling instructions, you head out to the wilderness with your guide and drive along the frozen rivers until reaching the perfect place for a break. While your guide prepares a tasty outdoor lunch, you may try snowshoeing in the surrounding nature. After the meal it’s time do some ice-fishing. Guide will show how to drill a hole in the ice and how to prepare the baits. Then all you need is good luck. After a long day outdoors, we return to the city by snowmobiles. We hope you have enjoyed experiencing a part of the local lifestyle.

SAFARI TO THE KINGDOM OF SNOW AND ICE

The Arctic Snow Hotel is located 26 km from the centre of Rovaniemi, at the Arctic Circle and on the shore of a beautiful Lappish lake. During the snowmobile ride to the Snow Hotel, we will ride through silent Lappish forests and across frozen swamps, lakes and rivers. Upon arrival to the Snow Hotel you will enjoy a tour around the hotel and will learn about the construction of the icy masterpiece. After the tour a delicious Lappish lunch is served in a warm Kota tepee. We snowmobile back to the city along the same routes and hope the journey leaves you with memorable impressions.

REINDEER SAFARI UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

This in a night to remember! We take you by car to a local reindeer farm where a reindeer herder awaits you with the reindeer to take you on a ride of a lifetime. Sitting comfortably in a reindeer sleigh you travel through snowy forests and you may even see the Northern Lights paint the skies in shades of green. A hot cup of coffee with a bun is served around a campfire and you will also learn about the life of the reindeer and the reindeer herders. We then say farewell to the reindeer and return to the city by car.

SAMPO ICE BREAKER CRUISE

After serving for 30 years in demanding Arctic waters, Ice-Breaker Sampo has been given a new, more fascinating task – to give unforgettable experiences for eager winter adventurers! Once on board, we have a presentation of the ship and a guidedtour, which takes us e.g. to the massive engine room. A delicious salmon soup lunch is served on board. Before returning to the port, the ship makes a onehour stop to enable us to take a hilarious swim in the frozen sea, comfortably dressed in a warm survival suit – looking like a teletubby! At the end of this unique cruise experience, the ship's Captain presents each client with acertificate. During the 1.2.-9.4.2013 visit to the might Snow Castle is also included. You will get a chance to seethe SnowHotel, enjoy perhaps a hot drink in the SnowRestaurant and have a look at the charming SnowChapel. Please remember your camera – there are lot´s ofamazing snow and ice sculptures to be photographed!

SNOWMOBILE SAFARI TO HUSKY AND REINDEER FARMS

Did you know that the most optimal weather for huskies is -20C and that the reindeer drop their antlers every year? Today you will learn a lot of interesting facts and believes about these arctic animals when we visit both a husky- and a reindeer farm. Our adventure starts with snowmobiling instructions after which we drive our arctic vehicles to a local husky farm where the friendly husky teams await to take you on a short and speedy sleigh ride. From the huskies we head to a local reindeer farm, where we take part in a magical Ceremony of Crossing the Arctic Circle and have a short reindeer sleigh ride as well. During the day we will enjoy a traditional Lappish lunch. After a full day of excitement we return back by snowmobiles and you’ll be given a Certificate of Crossing the Arctic Circle as a keepsake.

SNOWSHOEING IN SEARCH OF THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

Did you know that in Finland we call the Northern Lights as The Fire of the Fox? Join us for a snowshoe trip in the tranquil Lappish nature, away from the city lights. Enjoy the fresh winter air and a chance to see the Northern Lights flicker in the sky. We take you by car to the nearby wilderness and head for a refreshing walk on the snowshoes. During the evening you will learn about the arctic nature and enjoy stories about the culture and history of the local people. We will also have a break to enjoy some hot beverages and a Lappish sandwich. At the end of our excursion we return to the city by car - hopefully with rested and relaxed minds. Even if we can’t guarantee the Northern Lights, this program is excellent for people who wish to enjoy the great outdoors and have a break from the hectic, everyday life.
